France, middle of 20th century, silverplated metal, hallmarks Daniel Crégut.

Displayed in an authentic box. Daniel Crégut was born into a family of artisans and in 1946 opened his workshop in the Marais district of Paris, where silversmiths worked for many centuries. Today the Daniel Crégut brand specializes in accessories for children. He is a member of the Union Française de la Bijouterie, Joaillerie, Orfèvrerie, des Pierres et des Perles (UFBJOP).

The French mastered the technique of silverplating almost half a century later than the British. In 1819, inventors Maillot and Chorier created an alloy of 25% nickel, 50% copper and 25% zinc - melchior - which was to be used as the base metal for silverplating. First French silverplating workshop was Gombault.

The turtle is Daniel Crégut's hallmark and has been using it since 1948.

Condition of the set is excellent. 
Preservation of the box is in accordance with the age.
