This fruit vase is made of silverplated metal.

The technique of metal silverplating appeared in 1743 in England as an "analogue" of silver, but more accessible and retaining most of its properties. At the beginning, the technique was based on fusion, then it was replaced by electroplating. Today, silverplated metal items are expensive, high-quality accessories.

The first known silverplating metal technology, the Sheffield Plate, was invented in England in 1743 by Thomas Bowlsover when he accidentally fused copper and silver.
New electricity-based technology was also invented in England: in 1840, George Elkington, owner of Elkington & Co., invented and patented this technology. The dawn of the production of silver-plated products fell on the Victorian era.
