France, beginning of 20th century, porcelain, marks Limoges GDA.

This porcelain service with a relief pattern is made with gilded decal technique.

The porcelain manufactory was founded by Émile Gérard, Jules Dufraisseix and Edgar Abbot, hence the abbreviation GDA. The main focus was on exports to the United States. Edgar Abbott was a New Yorker and organized the supply of porcelain from France. GDA is known as one of the best manufacturers in Limoges. From 1989 to the present day it exists under the name Porcelaine GDA-Royal Limoges. The works of the GDA manufactory are exhibited at the British Museum in London.

Limoges, French municipality, has been known for its decorative art since the Middle Ages. From the beginning of the 19th century, when a kaolin mine was opened nearby, Limoges became one of the world centers for the production of porcelain and even competed with the royal manufacture of Sévres. The municipality is home to many factories, studios and shops specializing in porcelain.

These marks of the GDA manufactory were used in the period from 1900 to 1941.
